KNOBS FOR TURNING

DESKTOP EDITION

It is now possible to download and run Knobs For Turning on your home computer. This version allows you to resize the window, even to glorious full screen (press "F") and to reset all knobs (press "R"). On Windows, you can press "S" to save a screenshot.

In addition, I have posted (FOR FREE) the Knobs source code. It's also on github if that's more your jam. This is meant for non-profit fun times. While the existing knobs have been purchased by their rightful and eternal owners and nothing can ever change that, it is time to open the knob gates and bring freedom of knobs unto this wild, beautiful world.

MAC USERS: Apple has trust issues even though I pay them $100 a year to trust me. If you're downloading the game directly instead of through the itch app, grab the version labeled MAC DOWNLOAD. It's the same exact file in a DMG instead of a ZIP, but your computer shouldn't hassle you about it. If you get the "unable to find game!!" error, try moving the app to another folder to prompt your Mac to un-quarantine it. If that doesn't work... use the itch app. Apple is really hostile towards indies... there's not much I can do about it.

LINUX / RASPBERRY PI USERS: Your versions are provided as-is. I have done my best, but your OS confounds me. If you have a question, you absolutely know more about how to fix it than I do.

A: Knobs For Turning (or KnFT for short) is a generative artwork controlled by a series of knobs that you can play in your browser.

Q: CAN I BUY THE KNOBS?

A: Each knob can be purchased by a single person, with prices increasing according to the Fibonacci sequence. The first one is free! The owner of each knob gets to name it. (NOTE: Knob names are limited to three alphanumeric characters)

Q: CAN I RESELL THE KNOBS?

A: No, but your purchase does come with a Certificate of Knob, which you could try to sell. (NOTE: Certificate of Knob is not unique and can be easily duplicated)

Q: WILL THERE BE MORE KNOBS?

A: If people buy the current knobs, I will make more knobs and price them even higher. (UPDATE: WE HAVE CONCLUDED THE KNOBS PROJECT)

Q: DOES THIS MONEY GO TOWARDS A GOOD CAUSE?

A: No, it goes to me.

Q: WHAT IF THE KNOBS DON'T SELL BECAUSE THEY'RE SO OVERPRICED?
